Wedding dress
Kelly of Kelly's Korner does a special blog every Friday. And a couple of weeks ago she did one where you show your wedding dress. I did not have a blog at that time, but do now, so I thought I would post some pictures of my wedding dress. It took forever to find the dress of my dreams. I must have gone to 5+ stores, and I went back to some stores more than once. When I was at the bridal store where I ended up finding my dress it was just me and my mom. At other times both my sisters and my best friend came with, but I think they got tired of seeing me in so many dresses, and we did this over a couple of weeks. So, I was worn out by this time, and I thought I would never find a dress I absolutely loved. I thought I would have to settle. I turned to my mom, after another dress I didn't love was tried on and I said, "maybe I should just wear a t-shirt and jeans down the aisle." That is what I am most comfortable in. The bridal store employees at this bridal store were wonderful. If you live in Northwestern Indiana, Elegance Bridal Store in Highland, IN is a fabulous place to find a dress, and this is ulimately where I found my dress. The lady that was working with me suggested I look through one of there catalogs and maybe I would find a dress I like in there. They then could order it for me to try on. I was flipping through the magazine and came across a dress I really liked. I showed the lady and she said hold on a minute. Then she comes back with the dress and it was in my size. I started putting it on and I got a little teary eyed and I just knew this was the dress, even before I had it on all the way. I did not think I would get teary eyed when I found my wedding dress, but I suprised myself and I did. I absolutely loved my dress. And Elegance bridal store was the best place to work with. I ordered my dress, and in less than a month my dress came in. They were the greatest. I can't say the same for the bridal store where I ordered my bridesmaid dresses from. That was a nightmare, but a whole other store for a different time. Here is my gorgeous dress, and some of my handsome husband, McDreamy (a name he requested to be called on my blog).

Show us your life- Wedding Party and Flowers/Ceremony
I am participating in a blog special that Kelly started over at Kelly's Korner. This week it is show us your wedding party and flowers/Ceremony. I was married on August 12, 2006, and had an outdoor wedding. I decided to go with royal blue dresses and my accent color was peach. I had 8 bridesmaids, 1 junior bridesmaid, 8 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, and 1 ring bearer. Of the bridesmaids, my 2 sisters were my maid of honors. And Mr. McDreamy, my husband, had 2 of his close friends as his best men. My 2 nieces were my flower girls, the girl I used to nanny was my junior bridesmaid, and my nephew was my ring bearer. Here are some pictures of us.
Family, Fun, Fort Wayne, Football
Today we got back from our short trip to Fort Wayne. We were supposed to leave early, but did not get on the road until 10 a.m., and of course Fort Wayne is an hour ahead of us. We arrived around 2 p.m. and headed over to my cousin's house, Marci, to see her and her adorable son Michael. Michael and Zander are only 4 1/2 months apart, and that is about the same age difference between Marci and I. If Zander was born on March 17th, like I was hoping he would be, they would be exactly 4 months and 8 days apart, and Marci and I are 4 months and 8 days apart. But instead Zander and Michael are 4 months 15 days apart. We hung out for a while at Marci's house. Here are a couple pictures of Micheal.
Around 6:30 p.m. we headed out to watch my nephew Tyler's flag football practice. There is a girl on his team, and it was the cutest thing ever. She was practicing in an adorable dress, chasing those boys to grab the flag. She was so cute.
My nephew, Tyler, is the one with the white wrist bands on and his dad, my brother Ryan, is in the blue baseball cap.
After practice we headed to my brother's house to eat pizza and spend time with my nieces and nephew. They spent a lot of time loving Zander. He got so many kisses from his cousins. They love him so much. They all wanted to hold him numerous times. Julia, the middle child, read to him, and sang lullabies to him that she made up. She also did cheers for Zander. Alyssa, the oldest, love giving him kisses and holding him and so did Tyler, the youngest.

Then today we went to the zoo with Marci and Michael. We didn't spend a lot of time there because Michael was getting a little fussy. But we went through the African Kingdom exhibit. My favorite animals are African animals. I love zebras and giraffes, and we saw both today. I love Africa, and even spent a 2 weeks in Africa, but that is another post. We saw a giraffe close up, and so its long tongue. You could feed the giraffe if you wanted to.A lion is what is behind us.
After the zoo we went to my aunt's house and visited with her and played with the kids. We left Fort Wayne around 4 p.m. and headed home. We went out for pizza at Aurileo's with more family. My cousin Den is shipping out to Iraq in August for his second deployment to Iraq. He is in the Marines. So 18 of us all met up to send him off and visit with him one last time, before he leaves for Iraq. We had such a nice couple of days with all of our family. I love my family so much and love spending time with them. I am very close to my family.Tuesday, July 28, 2009
Busy Work Day
Today, I was really busy at work. That is the norm lately. But we got 2 traumas. I loved it. I live for the traumas. You see the hospital I work for is not a trauma hospital, but I we do get our fair share of the traumas. And today was one of those days. I just love the feel of your adrenaline pumping, knowing you are one of the people helping save someone's life. Sometimes traumas can be so chaotic and fast paced, but I just love it.
Now, onto some exciting news. I got a new camera today. I am so excited. It is a digital SLR Canon Rebel. I love it and can't wait to use it, especially to take photos of my son. I bought it off a coworker. It is almost brand new, because she only used it a handful of times. Well, I am off to pack. We are leaving early tomorrow morning for Fort Wayne. Early to us is 7 or 8 a.m.

Work Day
Not much excitement so far today. I have to work today, so I will be heading out in an hour to go to work. I will miss this little boy very much. After work I have to pack. We are leaving for Fort Wayne, IN tomorrow morning to visit family. We will be just staying there until Thursday. But I will leave you with a couple photos of my handsome baby boy. These are when he was about 1 week old.

Learning
I thought I would post a photo of my son, because I think I know how to post one, so here goes. This picture was taken at a hotel on the way back from Florida. It was right before Zander went swimming for the first time. Sorry about the red eyes, but I haven't figured out how to edit photos on my computer yet.
Starting out
I can't believe I am entering the blog world. I know this is crazy, but I have been "fake blogging" as I call it for 2 months and 2 days. I have been reading other blogs and wanted to start my own, but was unsure about it. So, I decided to write in Microsoft works in blogging style as a way to journal about my son and everything going on in our lives, until I decided if I wanted to blog on the internet. I am a terrible writer. So I apologize for the run on sentences, and misspelled words. AndI know I will have a lot of gramatical error, but I am blogging anyways. So, here goes. I am pretty sure I won't have many readers of my blog, but I am okay with that. I am doing it mostly as a keepsake for my son Zander and for me. I have never gotten into scrapbooking, but have always wanted to. I love taking pictures, ask my family. And if my son could talk he would tell you all about my love of photography. He knows first hand.
So, I wish that I could share my entries from the last 2 months. A lot has happened in those short 2 months. In the last 4 months, even more has happened. So I will take you through a brief overview of the last 4 months and 4 days of my life. On March 24, 2009 I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Zander Ryan. He was born at 4:32 a.m. and weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and was 22.5 inches long. I love my son so much, and I love being a mother. Life is busy, but fun. We are enjoying every minute with Zander. He is a healthy and loveable little boy. I went back to work in the middle of June. My first day back was June 8, 2009. I had intended to start back the following week. I think I messed up, and I was really supposed to be off on June 8th, because when I got to work I wasn't on the schedule. I still ended up working, turns out they needed another nurse. By the way I am a R.N. in an emergency room. I worked that Monday, June 8th and then had the rest of the week off. I then started Tuesday, June 16th as my official full week back. I work 3 12 hour shifts a week. My hours are from 11 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.
A few days before I officially started back to work, on Sunday, June 14th, my parent's house caught fire. I grew up in that house and my parents lived there for 31 years. It was horrible. The whole house will have to be torn down. Our family is still trying to get through this tragedy. But, everyone made it out of the house safely. My mom and little sister were home when the fire started. God protected them and kept them safe, and that is what matters most. God is an awesome God and will sustain us through this. Before the fire, my uncle died in May. My mom, Zander, and I went on a road trip to Florida for the funeral and to help my aunt, my mom's sister, in any way we could. We were gone a total of 1 1/2 weeks. Zander was almost 2 months at the time, and was a trooper and a great travel companion. God is a great God and even though my family is going through some tough times, He will sustain us through it all. I trust God completely, and I know He can get us through anything in life. That has been my last 4 months. Oh, and my older sister got engaged a little over 2 weeks ago, and is getting married December 4, 2009. I am helping my sister throw a wedding in 4 1/2 months. Very exciting and fun.
