High Chair

Today was the first time Zander sat in a high chair. Zander and I went out to dinner with my parents to Bakers Square. Instead of lugging in his carrier, I decided Zander would try out a high chair. He did rather well. I was supposed to work 4 hours today from 7 p.m to 11 p.m, but they called and said they didn't need me. I am so excited, I get to spend all day with Zander.

Too tired

I am too tired to post, even though I have so much to post about. So, of course I will leave you with more pictures of my baby. I can't get enough of him. I love him so much my heart hurts.

These are some old pictures of Zander. The one below was taken on June 27, 2009 when our friends Sarah, Jon, and their baby boy, Josiah, were in town visiting. Josiah and Zander are less than a month apart.

This picture was taken on June 10, 2009.

And this picture was taken on August 14, 2009.

I can't believe I said this...

Don't let him suck on your nose. (in speaking to my husband about the baby)

Are you going to eat, or are you going to play with your toesies?

Sitting up and other random things

Zander has been practicing sitting up by himself, and he is getting pretty good at it.

And then he falls over.

Then mommy helps him to sit up again.

Then he falls over once again.

Then he sits again.

This is getting to be kind of fun!

More sitting.

Tonight Zander and I went out to dinner at Golden Corral with our friends to celebrate Janell's birthday. I decide to dress Zander in the cutest Calvin Klein outfit. The outfit was new and this would be the first time he wore it. He wasn't even wearing the outfit 2 hours when he had a huge blow out while sitting on my lap. Thank goodness he didn't get any on my clothes. I went to the bathroom and got him cleaned up and changed. On our way to the bathroom, one of the employees came up behind me and said "He has the cutest ears ever." That meant so much to me. His ears stick out a little, and I think they are the cutest thing ever, but I have gotten a few comments from people that they are big. I just don't want him to get picked on because of his ears either now or when he gets older. So, when that lady said that it just made me so happy and it meant the world to me. To me that is one of the nicest things someone has said to me about my son. Well, I washed Zander's cute, new outfit. The stain came out of his shirt, but his khaki pants have a light green stain on them now that has not come out yet. I plan to soak it and try some other tactic to get the stain out. I hope it works, because it is such a cute outfit. It even has a cute little jean jacket to go with it.
Okay, this post is filled with random things. Today Zander learned to work the TV and DVR remote. Zander was laying on the couch today and the remote was behind his head. He reached back and touched one of the buttons on the remote which made the show I was watching fast forward because it was on our DVR. I know it was unintentional, but it was too funny.
One more random thing. Today they had a 36 hour radio-a-thon on a local radio station for Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. It was so sad to hear about all the sick kids. Every year I hear part of the radio-a-thon and every year it makes me cry. But this year it means so much to me, because I have a healthy boy. I am so blessed that Zander is healthy. God is so good, and I am so thankful for having a healthy boy. I thank God every day for every minute I have with Zander. I love him so much. I have so much to be thankful for.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

What a long day. Today has been the longest Zander has ever spent away from his mommy or daddy. He was with a babysitter for almost 15 hours. This morning I dropped Zander off at Sam and Jen's house at 9:30 a.m. and I just picked him up at 12:15 a.m. It is now 1 a.m. and Brian is still not home from work, and he started at 11:30 a.m. Craziness. We both had long work days, but at least I knew Zander was in good hands. Thanks Sam and Jen and your kids. Here are some pictures of Zander. Oh and today is 9-9-9. I love writing 9-9-9; it is so easy. I will miss 9-9-9 or 09-09-09

New Job for the Hubby

Zander spent sometime at his Grandma and Grandpa Meeter's house today because, since the first time since he was born, both his mommy and daddy had to work today. Yes, today was my husband's first day at his new job. I am so excited for him and I can't wait to hear how his day went. It is 11:45 p.m. and he is still not home yet, but hopefully he will be home soon. I did call him around 11:20 p.m to check and see where he was since he works in the same town we live in. He told me he doesn't get paid for lunch that is why he won't get off until 11:30 p.m. And since he is just starting he probably had to stay a little later because he is still getting used to the job.

Update: My husband is now home and has told me all about his day at work. He loved it. I am so happy for him. I gave him a card when he got home, and it made him cry. I knew it would. I wanted to decorate the house with balloons and streamers in celebration of his new job and buy him his favorite candy, peanut butter M&Ms, but my mom invited me over for pizza after I picked up Zander, so I stopped at her house instead. While I was at my mom's house my little sister Aubrey gave Zander one of her favorite books and mine, The Giving Tree by Shell Silverstein. What a sweet gift. I just love that book and I love my sister very much. Well I will have to post more another day, I must get to sleep. I have to leave early to take Zander to my friend's house to babysit. Thanks Jen for watching my baby tomorrow. I will leave you with the only 2 pictures McDreamy took of my son today. I asked him to start taking more pictures of Zander while I am gone.

ER visits

Since I am working the next 9 days in a row, I thought I would post a little about my job. I am an Emergency Room nurse, and I love my job. Well, at least most days I do. Almost every time I work I am amazed at some of the complaints that people come into the emergency room with. Some people make up complaints or lie to find out things or avoid certain people. I had one patient who stated in triage that she had hip pain. When she got back into a room in the emergency room I asked her why she came to the ER today (I ask this of every patient I see). I assumed she was going to tell me about her hip pain. Instead she proceeds to tell me that she wants a pregnancy test. I asked her if she is in any pain, in distress, or has any complaints. She says "No, I just came here to see if I was pregnant." Definitely not an emergency. We did a pregnancy test, and she was not pregnant, so we sent her on her merry way with discharge papers. The other day I had a patient come in by ambulance with complaints of abdominal pain. I entered the room immediately upon his arrival to the ER. I asked where his pain is located. He proceeds to point to the left side of his abdomen and tell me that he had pain there, but he no longer has it. Then within 2 seconds the truth came out. He begins telling me that he never had any pain, but lied to get away from the police. You see a police officer pulled him over and at that moment he did not want to deal with them. This is where his great acting skills came into play. This person tells the police officer that pulled him over that he had excruciating abdominal pain and has a history of bleeding ulcers. He stated that he thinks his ulcer is acting up. The police officer believed him and called 911 for him. The advanced life support ambulance comes out to the scene. They put an IV in the patient and bring him into the ER. After hearing the truth, the patient signs out Against Medical Advice. I removed his IV, and he goes on his merry way. You see his friend followed him to the ER, and now will be taking him back to his car. The paramedics were near by cleaning off the stretcher they brought the patient in and watched the patient walk out the door. They were in shock and aggravated. One of the paramedics even stated to him, "You mean, I could be sleeping back at the firehouse right now, and you called us in for nothing." The patient shook the paramedics hand and walked out the doors he was wheeled in just a few minutes earlier. Unbelievable.
